Forum focuses on preventing growing problem of elder abuse

The fastest growing crime in the state is identity theft and a disproportionate number of victims may be seniors, Cascade County Sheriff David Castle said.
"Our elders are very susceptible to that," he said.
That's part of the reason Sunwest Management, the parent company of the Rainbow, Cambridge Court, Cambridge Place, Eagles Manor and Golden Eagles Plaza, is holding an elder abuse prevention forum.
The forum will include key note speeches from Castle, an officer from the Great Falls Police Department and Jim Francetich, of Adult Protective Services.
There also will be booths and displays by Easter Seals, RSVP, Adult Protective Services, the Senior Center, Lifecycles, Meals on Wheels and others.
The event is Thursday from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the Rainbow, 20 3rd St. N. It's free and open to the public.
Castle hopes the forum will help educate seniors about these issues.
