RESIDENTS are being urged to keep a close eye on their elderly relatives in a bid to cut reports of abuse.
Ealing Council is holding an event in the Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre this Sunday as part of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, which aims to educate people about the problem.
Councillor Mark Reen, who is in charge of Adult Services, said: "People sometimes become more vulnerable as they get older and it's a sad fact that there are people who take advantage of them.

"There are also undoubtedly cases where a carer or family member simply can't cope and may need help. That's why it's really important that if anyone has any suspicions, they report them straight away."
Experts will be outside the Tesco store between 11am and 4pm to give advice on abuse, which can range from physical abuse or being duped out of money.
