County Council talk openly during Elder Abuse Awareness Day
Worcestershire County Council’ s Adult Protection Teams will be out and about this month (June) to share information about adult abuse.
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day takes place on Sunday, June 15. The main event will be held during the Three Counties Show from Friday, June 13 until Sunday, June 15. Staff at the showground will be asking attendees to write down their hopes and their fears for the future.
Sue Pidduck, Worcestershire County Council’s Locality Manager, said: “World Elder Abuse Awareness Day aims to raise awareness of elder abuse. Elder abuse is not just physical abuse, as it can take on many other different forms, including psychological and emotional abuse, sexual abuse, fraud and neglect.
“We all have a responsibility to look out for it and raise the alert if necessary”.
Older people’s teams from around the county will be holding a variety of events including coffee mornings and information sessions for partner organisations and the general public.
