Nov 14, 2008
By Gary Smollen
A Heartland man, paralyzed from the neck down, has thousands of dollars worth of debt placed on his credit cards. The suspect is the man's caregiver, out on bail for allegedly committing the same crime.
The report to police was made by one of the case managers at Adult Protective Services.
The victim is a 57-year old Dundee man. His caregiver and suspect in the case is a 48-year old woman.
According to police reports the call to officers was made on Thursday, November 6th, but the theft had been going on for sometime.
Investigators may have to get a forensic accountant to look over the man's finances during the time of the suspect's employment.
