Buzz up! Davidson County General Sessions Court Judge William E. Higgins is heading to Dallas, Texas next week, compliments of the Nashville YWCA, to attend a workshop on elder abuse cases.
The local YWCA awarded Higgins a scholarship to the weeklong conference, presented by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women, the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges and the Family Violence Prevention Fund.
It runs from Nov. 16 through 19.
Higgins said elder abuse is on the increase, and he hopes the workshop will provide him with additional insight when ruling on these cases.

What a good idea! A reckon all judges and lawyers should have a compulsory unit of study - "elder abuse"; in their law education.
