WESTPORT — Police have charged a local health care worker with beating a handicapped woman who was once in her care.
Mandy Blake, 31, of 50 Charlotte White Road was charged with assaulting the wheelchair-bound local woman, who was not identified. Detective Jeff Majewski said that Ms. Blake is accused of appearing at the victim's home during her health care worker's brief daily break, refusing to leave, arguing about a financial matter, then grabbing the victim by the arms and "punching her about the head" before leaving.
Police went to Ms. Blake's home to investigate and found her holed up, "yelling to officers through an open window" and refusing to come out, and at one point calling the victim by telephone loudly enough for police to hear.
Police obtained an arrest warrant immediately and arrested Ms. Blake when she emerged 30 minutes later.
