BEND, Ore. (AP) — A nurse fired this month after allegedly injuring an elderly patient was arrested on charges of criminal mistreatment, assault and coercion, the authorities said.
Sharon G. Souders, 51, of Bend caused facial injuries when she tried to physically force the 76-year-old patient to take her medications Feb. 6, said Sgt. Paul Kansky of the Bend Police Department.
Souders was fired the next day from her job at St. Charles Medical Center-Bend. The Oregon Board of Nursing contacted Bend police about the incident Feb. 15, Kansky said in a news release late Wednesday.
