October 21, 2009
Savannah-Chatham police is asking for help in locating a woman who has allegedly been preying on the elderly, the department announced this afternoon.
Frances Brown, 57, who allegedly refers to herself as the “traveling evangelist” is wanted on suspicion of elder abuse, identity fraud and unauthorized use of a credit card, said Veda Lamar Nichols, metro police spokeswoman.
Brown is suspected of preying on the elderly by befriending them and then gaining access to their personal information and credit card accounts, Nichols said.
Nichols said Brown may be traveling in a 1997 dark blue, four-door Mercedes Benz 320 series with a Florida license plate of 2984GX.
Brown, who sometimes wears glasses, may have left the area. Her history shows addresses in Hinesville and Jacksonville, Fla.
Anyone with information on Brown should call CrimeStoppers at 234-2020.
