A "BRILLIANT" nurse has spoken of her year of anguish after she was prosecuted for helping a 98-year-old patient to stand up.
Jessimol Patson, 52, was hit with a charge of common assault after a paramedic filled in a form raising concerns about her behaviour.
He objected to the method the carer used to help dementia sufferer Alice Wilson to her feet.
Yesterday magistrates in Wirral, Merseyside, took just minutes to find Mrs Patson not guilty of assault.
On November 25, 2008 Mrs Patson called a GP to County Homes Nursing Home, in Woodchuch, Wirral, after the resident fell and broke her left arm.
'Excellent'
But when paramedics were called they claimed Mrs Patson had grabbed the elderly lady's injured limb to get her into a wheelchair.
The detail was reported on their patient referral form which raised fears among her employers, resulting in her suspension.
With two days left before the time limit for prosecution lapsed, she was astonished to be charged with assault and hauled in by police.
Called to give evidence in court in front of a tearful Mrs Patson, fellow nurses Shirley Thomas and Angela Davies called her an "excellent" and "brilliant" nurse with 27 years of experience.
