Lyon County Crime Stoppers asks that senior citizens be aware of a new scam that has been reported in the Emporia area.
A caller poses as the senior’s grandchild and reports they have been in a car wreck in Canada and have been arrested for a DUI. The caller asks for bail money to be wired to Canada. It is thought that personal information about grandkids is possibly being gained from FaceBook computer sites making the call seem more authentic.
If you have any information about a crime please call Lyon County Crime Stoppers at 342-2273 or the Emporia Police Department at 343-4200.
