ENFIELD — A woman expecting to get a suspended prison sentence and probation for repeatedly beating her 79-year-old mother instead was sent to prison for a year Thursday after she got drunk and failed to appear at her March 24 sentencing.

The mother told police that Cressotti had a history of alcohol and drug abuse, according to an affidavit supporting her arrest.

She said it was “common that Patricia would slap her in the face, pull her hair, and dig her fingernails into her arms,” the affidavit says.

She told officers about a time “that her daughter hit her so hard in the face she knocked her eyeglasses off.”

Family members noticed bruising and cuts on the woman on numerous occasions, and she received medical treatment for broken ribs sustained in an attack by her daughter, the affidavit says.
