Justice conference to be held

The North Dakota Department of Human Services, the attorney general's office, Legal Services of North Dakota and the State Bar Association are co-sponsoring an Elder Justice Conference on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Seven Seas Hotel in Mandan.
Legal professionals, advocates for the elderly and other interested individuals are welcome to attend.
Conference programming focuses on identifying elder abuse and exploitation, competency issues, undue influence and self-determination, the provision of adult protective services, protection and advocacy services, and related American Indian law.
The event also features a panel discussion titled "Exploitation: A Case Study from Ward County."
Featured speakers include Lori Stiegel, J.D., associate staff director of the American Bar Association - Commission on Law and Aging, and Joanne Otto, who was the executive director of the National Adult Protective Services Association prior to her retirement.
