A 95-year-old Detroit man wept as he talked about being robbed, carjacked and assaulted by the same young man four times near his home on the city’s west side, expressing the fear and frustration of a region appalled at increasing violence against the elderly.
Detroit Police have told the Free Press that slayings of the elderly have risen 86% in the first half of 2009 compared to the same period last year, amid a rash of brutal assaults against seniors in the suburbs, as well.
