HSE investigates Blainroe Lodge
August 12 2009
BLAINROE LODGE was one of the nursing homes investigated by the HSE following a complaint about the conditions under which a patient was being kept.
The result of the investigation found that the patient hadn't been showered for at least three weeks due to an 'insufficient number of carers'.
Almost 160 complaints against 120 private nursing homes were investigated last year, with onefifth of these complaints upheld by the HSE.
The complaint against Blainroe Lodge Nursing Home, just outside Wicklow Town, was made on August 28, 2008 when a woman visiting her brother found him ' in an extremely unkempt and dirty, unclean condition'. She also complained that a lifelong friend of her brother was barred from visiting him.
