Police say Ilse Krone, 55 and Harold A. VanDuyne, 31 were arrested last night at 810 S. Kankakee in WIlmington. That's the home owned by Krone's mother, Catherine Bautino.
Bautino was found dead in her home April 24 and the Will County Coroner tells The Herald News that she had been dead for "some time" before anyone notified police. An autopsy showed the woman died from a lack of food and water.
The arrests last night followed a lengthy investigation. Krone and VanDuyne are charged with two counts of criminal neglect of an elderly person and financial exploitation. In addition to allegedly not providing food or water to Bautino, police say the suspects also took money from her accounts.
