Man Sentenced For Mobile Homes Scam (CA. USA)

December 3, 2009

An Oceanside man convicted for stealing more than $500,000 from his clients as part of a manufactured homes scheme was sentenced to eight years in prison Tuesday.
Cecillio Zamora sold manufactured homes in Oceanside, but admitted pocketing his clients' money that was intended for down payments.
When the 10News I-Team first exposed Zamora's scam in June he told the reporter Mitch Blacher, "Did I do anything wrong? I handled it wrong. It's just a matter of working outside the box."
Zamora was convicted of forgery, grand theft, embezzlement and financial elder abuse. He apologized to his victims in a downtown San Diego court.
Before Judge Kathleen Lewis passed sentence, one of his victims addressed the court. "I'm a senior; I'm d
isabled and he took all the money I had left for a home," Joel Watkins said.
In addition to his stint in prison, Zamora was ordered to pay back more than $100,000 to his victims.
