A man from northern Greene County admitted Wednesday that he killed his grandmother and severely injured his great-grandmother five years ago. Greene County Circuit Judge Tom Mountjoy sentenced Joe Music to four concurrent 25-year prison sentences for second-degree murder, second-degree elder abuse and two counts of armed criminal action.
On Nov. 18, 2004, Music stomped and kicked the face and head of his grandmother, Frances Geihl, 72, with steel-toed boots outside the family's mobile home south of Brighton. A home care aide tried to help but Music flung her away. The aide then called 911.
Geihl's mother, Eva Aslinger, 89, tried to help her daughter and Music also stomped and kicked her, tearing the skin from his great-grandmother's arm. Prosecutors say Music hid his blood-spattered boots in an outbuilding, where Greene County sheriff's deputies found them. Geihl died the next day.
