A third charge has been filed against a Midlander accused of ignoring his elderly mother's medical needs to the point where her right foot had to be amputated.
Jonathan Phillips Nelson, 54, was first charged with one count of first-degree abuse of a vulnerable adult in June, accused of intentionally causing serious physical or mental harm to his mother. Prosecutors added a count of embezzlement of $20,000 or more from a vulnerable adult in July.
