Award Recognises Carer's Effort (UK)

(Although this blog aims to put spotlight on elder abuse cases; it is a great pleasure and assurance that there are dedicated and hardworking carers in society.

This carer was honoured by her own community; we applaud her good work and congratulate her for this obviously well-deserved award.)

Award recognises carer's effort

12th August 2009

DONCASTER care home worker Alex Sargent has been named Co-operative Funeralcare Carer of the Year.

Alex, who works at Plantation View Care Home in Cantley, has been honoured for her devotion to elderly residents in the home. Plantation View is a residential home for elderly people with dementia.

Alex said: "This is absolutely brilliant. I cried when I found out, I feel really privileged.

"I love working with the residents in this home, it is a great place to be."

It comes as Alex celebrates five years working at Doncaster Council owned Plantation View.

She has been working as a carer in nursing homes in Doncaster for eleven years in total.

Plantation View's manager Jane Bradley said: "We have a wonderful team here and I could have nominated any number of staff but Alex is always so bright and happy.

"It is fantastic that she has been recognised for her work and winning this award has given the whole team an extra boost."
