Son pleads no contest in elderly father's death

A New Richmond man was charged and found guilty Tuesday in St. Croix County Court of two charges related to the death of his 82-year-old father last year, according to court records.
Martin J. Fagnan pleaded no contest to a felony charge of causing the death of a man by recklessly subjecting an individual at risk to abuse, and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and causing bodily harm by recklessly subjecting an individual at risk to abuse.
Judge Eric Lundell accepted the pleas on the two misdemeanors and found Fagnan guilty. Fagnan will not be found guilty and sentenced on the felony charge unless he violates conditions of a two-year agreement.
Fagnan was placed on two years probation with conditions that he perform 50 hours of community service at a nursing home that has patients with dementia and/or Alzheimer's disease, and he must pay $220 in court costs.
