A 68-year-old Hanover man is spending a month behind bars after housekeepers found his 93-year-old father lying in excrement at his home in August.

John T. Hallinan pleaded guilty Wednesday to assault and battery on a person over 60 and assault and battery, said Plymouth County Assistant District Attorney Peter Maguire.
Hallinan was arrested at the home he shares with his father after police found the elderly man alone on the kitchen floor wearing a T-shirt and diaper, and with bruises on his body Aug. 30, cops said.

A week earlier, housekeepers found the nonagenarian secured to a chair with duct tape but did not contact authorities, cops said.

A judge ordered Hallinan to serve 30 days of a 2 -year sentence at the Plymouth House of Correction, Maguire said. He added Hallinan was also ordered to complete three years of probation, relinquish his right to make any legal and health-care decisions for his father and live separately from his dad.

Hallinan’s attorney did not return a message seeking comment.
Maguire did not have any information about the status of Hallinan’s father.
