An Idyllwild resident who cared for an elderly woman has been arrested after sheriff’s investigators say they learned she had been withdrawing money from the victim’s bank account, even after the woman died, said Sgt. Stephen Mike.
Investigators also contend the suspect opened two life insurance policies on the victim and used the victim’s money to pay the premiums, Mike said in a news release.
Teri Danette Blackburn, 50, was booked on suspicion of financial elder abuse by a caregiver and theft by false pretenses after investigators served a search warrant at her home in the 24000 block of Marion Ridge Drive in Idyllwild regarding an Elder Abuse investigation, Mike said.
Blackburn was freed on $25,000 bail earlier today, according to jail records.
Anyone that may have additional information about this case, or any other case related to the suspect, is encouraged to call 951-791-3419.
