Woman Endures 32 Years of Abuse

OMUTHIYA – “He hates me to the extent that he burns my footprints whenever I walk in the house,” says an abused grandmother.

In a shocking case of domestic violence, a 63-year-old woman from Okaale village in the Omuthiya constituency spent 32 years of her life being abused by her husband.

And to make matters worse, officials entrusted with her safety and wellbeing closed their doors on her, as they did not believe the story of a “mad woman”.

This went on for years until recently when her 34-year-old son got fed up and reported the matter to the police.
