Sheriff’s deputies arrested a woman entrusted with cleaning an elderly man’s home after it was learned she had been stealing from him, officials said.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Apple Valley station deputies arrested the woman Wednesday afternoon when they found her with two marked bills from the 89-year-old’s wallet totaling $70, sheriff’s officials said.
The victim believed the woman, Franlynn F. Flores, 23, of Victorville, had been stealing money from his wallet, according to a sheriff’s press release.
Detective Kevin Burke arranged to have marked bills placed in the wallet before her next visit.
Investigators said that on Wednesday, after Flores cleaned the victim’s home, it was discovered two bills were missing.
Officials stopped Flores, found the marked bills and arrested her for burglary and elder abuse. The case is being forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for review.
