Educating For Seniors Project (CA. USA)

Learn About the Legal Facts of Life For Free
The State Bar of California is presenting pressure-free information seminars for seniors

The State Bar of California Trusts and Estates Section is in the midst of presenting free seminars by attorneys from your area who have been specifically trained for what is called the Educating for Seniors Project.
The seminars don’t sell anything to participants. On the contrary, they give the community of baby-boomers and elders free information on the legal facts of life.
Hosted by members of the bar’s Trusts and Estates Section, the attorneys aren’t even allowed to pass out their business cards. It’s an attempt to encourage all seniors to take advantage of the free information without any pressure to buy attorney services or products, and to learn the real facts on how to avoid scams and focus on the legal issues to which they really need answers.
Products given away at the seminars are Senior and the Law magazine, and consumer information pamphlets at 50 cents each (no doubt because of their glossy finish) include “Do I need a Will?” “Do I need Estate Planning?” Do I Need a Living Trust?” and “What Should I Know About Elder Abuse?” All of the pamphlets can be obtained by contacting the State Bar of California, Attn: Pamphlets, 180 Howard St., San Francisco, CA 94105. Call Wayne Curier directly at 415.516.1461 to set up a seminar for your club, church group or senior facility. Tell him I sent you.
Another toll-free line to connect with the bar’s senior information line is 888.460.7364. It’s an information line to assist seniors in reporting the activities of attorneys and nonattorneys involved in fraudulent activities and to discipline the attorneys who have participated in these activities and to pursue the complaints against nonattorneys for the unauthorized practice of law.
