Seven staff suspended in care home probe

SEVEN staff have been suspended while investigations are carried out into allegations over the treatment of residents at a care home.

Essex County Council said the authority was investigating “a number of allegations concerning staff at Humphrey Lodge, Thaxted, a care home for older people with dementia, operated on our behalf by Runwood Homes.

The statement added: "The investigation was begun following an alleged assault by a staff member on a service user which is currently being investigated by police.

“Essex County Council has identified 13 allegations concerning poor care and verbal abuse involving seven members of staff. The members of staff have been suspended."

Teams are working to ensure the quality of care is maintained for residents at the home. Once the council has completed its investigation, a decision will be made about the authority's care provide
