SANTA ROSA -- A Chico man charged with the shotgun slaying of his grandfather in May has entered a plea of not guilty to homicide and other crimes related to the shooting.
Sean Patrick Mooney, 20, remains locked up in the Sonoma County Jail with bail set at $1 million.
The defendant declined to enter a plea at his arraignment on May 23.
In addition to an open count of murder, Mooney is charged with elder abuse and possession of stolen property, specifically the shotgun that was used in the alleged murder.
His next court appearance will be a preliminary hearing on Aug. 18.
