MURRIETA, Calif
A Murrieta man is accused of trying to kill his 73-year old mother by duct taping her to a chair and cutting her oxygen supply.

Gregory A. Cornelius, 46, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to attempted murder, elder abuse and false imprisonment charges.

Cornelius is accused of physically assaulting his mother in her home at The Colony retirement community.

He then allegedly used duct tape to tie her to a chair and cut the line to her oxygen tank.

Cornelius had been living with his mother and threatened to kill her and himself, a friend told the San Bernardino Sun.

His bail was set at $1 million.
