Pinay caregiver accused of elder abuse

SAN DIEGO –
A Filipina caregiver is being held on $1 million bail and faces more than six years in jail after being arrested for elder abuse, theft and embezzlement of an elder and other felony charges.
Milagros Angeles, 62, is being held at the Vista Detention Center in San Diego County. Last week, she plead not guilty to charges she abused the man she has been taking care for the past two years, 93-year-old Pearl Harbor survivor Arnold Bauer.
According to news reports, police found Bauer living in squalor inside his home disoriented and suffering from dehydration. News photographers captured trash scattered all over the home, rat feces, unwashed dishes, and open and spoiled food containers lying around.
“No one deserves to live like this,” said Sgt. Mark Varnau of the Sheriff Department’s Elder Abuse Unit.
Police arrested Angeles who was hiding in the bedroom carrying $9,000 in cash, according to reports.
