Oakland Caregivers Jailed After Elderly Man Dies

A 79-year-old man died early Wednesday morning after being admitted to an Oakland hospital with injuries that led to the arrest of his caregivers, a police spokeswoman said.At about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oakland police were notified that a possible victim of elder abuse had been admitted to Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, Oakland police Officer Holly Joshi said.
Officers arrived at the hospital, saw the man's injuries and called the Police Department's youth and family services unit, which began an investigation, Joshi said.
