A Fontana woman was arrested on an elder abuse charge on Feb. 6, according to the Fontana Police Department.
At about 2:47 p.m., officers responded to the 16000 block of Merrill Avenue for a report of a critical missing adult. The reporting party indicated that she left her 72-year-old mother who suffers from Alzheimer's disease unattended.
Officers using multiple resources and agencies conducted an extensive search for four hours in the pouring rain before locating the missing woman in a residential area, lost and soaking wet.
Officers then discovered that this incident was the third time in the same week that police were contacted due to 46-year-old Silvia Martinez leaving her mother unattended. Officers arrested Martinez for alleged elder abuse
