A Banning bank clerk was arrested last week, accused of pilfering thousands of dollars from two senior citizens' bank accounts.
Banning police said Kaleena Unique Smith, 25, worked as a teller at the Downey Savings Bank beginning in February. Police believe Smith took account information from two customers with large balances and passed it along to accomplices, according to a police report.
Accomplices would wait in her teller line and make fraudulent withdrawals using fake account information to steal an estimated $5,000.
Police arrested Smith at a different employer in Palm Springs on Thursday on suspicion of embezzlement, elder abuse, forgery and conspiracy.
Police are asking anyone with information to call 951-922-3180
