Scam artists are relentless when targeting senior citizens

For a small fee, she could hit it big.
That's what the companies promised. Her first check was for $7 or $8. Irene, 82, can't remember exactly. All she knows is how badly she wanted to win the sweepstakes.
Soon the checks were $20, then $30. Over the months she wrote hundreds of them, certain she would win.
Most seniors don't report the crimes out of embarrassment or fear of losing their independence.
